01 · Start with the actual gap
More traffic will not solve
every sales problem.
Pick three important ASINs rather than making changes to the whole catalogue. Compare similar periods, and note stock interruptions, sale events and price changes before drawing a conclusion.
Eligible brands can use Amazon’s Search Query Performance and Search Catalog Performance dashboards to review impressions, clicks, cart adds and purchases. Brand Analytics requires a Professional account and a Brand Representative role for an enrolled brand. [3]
| What you notice | What to check next | First practical action |
|---|---|---|
| Relevant queries have demand, but your products get little exposure. | Query relevance, product availability and existing campaign coverage. | Choose a small group of suitable queries and review whether the product is actually a good match. |
| Exposure is present, but few shoppers click. | The offer buyers see beside competing products. | Compare the delivered price, pack quantity, visible product promise and delivery date for the same query. |
| Shoppers click, but few add to cart. | Unanswered suitability questions and conflicting product details. | Check dimensions, compatibility, included items and limitations against what buyers expect. |
| Cart activity is healthy, but purchases lag. | Price or delivery changes, competing offers and availability. | Inspect the buying experience for different delivery locations and review changes during the period. |
No access to Brand Analytics? Start with your available traffic, order, offer and advertising reports. Keep their definitions separate. You can still identify a weak product or irrelevant paid traffic without presenting those reports as the complete search funnel.
02 · Prepare for question-led shopping
Can a buyer confirm
“Is this right for me?”
Amazon’s India shopping assistant, Rufus, answers product questions using sources including listing details, reviews and community Q&As. Amazon’s US shopping experience uses Alexa for Shopping for product research and comparisons. [1] [2]
Our recommendation is to prepare a question-and-evidence sheet for each important product. This is a practical content check, not an Amazon ranking formula. Collect facts from the product team before adding them to catalogue attributes, descriptions or supporting images.
| A buyer may ask | Evidence to prepare | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Will it work on my induction hob? | Verified hob compatibility and any relevant base-size requirements. | “Works everywhere” when some surfaces are unsupported. |
| How much food will it hold? | Actual capacity, dimensions and a realistic usage explanation. | Mixing dimensions from different variants. |
| Is the handle safe in the oven? | Verified temperature limits and care instructions. | Guessing from the material or a competitor’s listing. |
| What comes in the box? | Exact contents for this pack and variant. | Showing extra accessories without explaining they are excluded. |
Check for conflicting answers. If the product page, Brand Store and your own brand website show different dimensions or care instructions, resolve the underlying facts. Check a few genuine buyer questions in the shopping experience and record incorrect or incomplete answers for investigation. A single AI answer is not a reliable ranking test.
03 · Replace guesswork with a fair test
Test a specific doubt.
Do not redesign everything at once.
Amazon’s Manage Your Experiments lets eligible brands compare versions of product content. Access and ASIN eligibility depend on brand role, account and sufficient traffic. Available content tests include titles, images, bullets and A+ content. [4]
Write one hypothesis.
For example: “Buyers cannot understand the pack quantity. A clearer eligible image or content version should reduce that doubt.” Use factual content that meets Amazon’s rules.
Keep a change log.
Record price, promotions, stock and campaign changes alongside the test. Avoid unrelated changes that make the result difficult to explain.
Allow enough evidence.
Do not choose a winner after a few orders. Use the experiment’s planned duration and significance guidance. Check the publication settings before starting, including automatic publication of winning content.
What if the ASIN is not eligible? Make one clearly documented change and compare suitable periods. Treat the result as directional because seasonality, ads and competitors may have changed too. A before-and-after comparison is not a randomised experiment.
04 · A 2026 advertising change · US marketplace
Review the questions
your ads now answer.
Amazon announced general availability of Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands prompts in the US from 25 March 2026. These AI-generated prompts use sources such as product and Brand Store information. Existing eligible campaigns are enrolled automatically; authors and publishers are excluded. [5]
In the advertising console, check the ad group’s Ads section for Prompts. Amazon provides controls to review and pause prompts, with individual performance reporting. The prompt list includes prompts that have received a click. Do not assume this feature is available in an India account.
Allow the reporting window to settle before judging performance. A prompt with a few clicks is not enough evidence for a major budget decision. Compare meaningful samples and keep the underlying product information accurate.
05 · Find the product problem behind the sales problem
Some sales improvements
start with your next production batch.
Product Opportunity Explorer includes information on demand, reviews and return activity. Where the tool and relevant data are available, use these insights alongside your own returns and feedback. Check marketplace availability in Seller Central. [6]
Group repeated issues into three buckets. This helps decide whether the next change belongs in the listing, the product or the packing process.
Expectation mismatch
“Smaller than expected” may need a clearer scale reference and dimensions. Confirm the measurements first.
Product limitation
“Does not fit my model” may require clearer compatibility, a different variant or a product change. More ads will not fix the fit.
Delivery damage
Repeated breakage may need packaging checks and a logistics investigation. Track whether the next batch actually improves the result.
Give each recurring issue an owner and a follow-up date. Measure return rate using consistent order periods and allow time for returns to arrive. Do not judge a newly shipped batch against a fully matured older batch.
06 · Decide how much extra sales are worth
Check contribution.
Not just the order count.
Before raising bids or offering a discount, calculate what is left after the costs linked to those orders. Use your actual settlement and cost data, with taxes treated consistently.
Net sales after discounts and refunds
− product cost attributable to those sales
− Amazon and fulfilment charges
− packaging and other variable costs
− advertising spend
− return costs not already included above
Illustrative example: Two products each receive ₹20,000 in extra sales. One needs heavy discounts and frequent replacements; the other has fewer returns and lower selling costs. The same sales figure does not mean the same amount is available for further advertising.
Review paid and total sales together. A campaign’s attributed sales do not prove all those orders were additional. Compare suitable periods and, where feasible, controlled tests before calling an increase incremental growth.
For US sellers, Amazon’s shopping assistant also lets buyers inspect price history and set price alerts. Our recommendation: plan genuine offers with a clear margin limit, rather than relying on a larger-looking discount. [2]
Put the checks into practice
Your next 30 days.
One product group at a time.
Week 1: Record the starting position
Select three ASINs. Save the available funnel, advertising, stock and return data. Record prices and contribution. Choose the issue most likely to be holding each product back.
Week 2: Prepare the missing evidence
Build the buyer-question sheet. Verify product facts and recurring complaints. Agree on one content, offer or product correction with a clear reason.
Week 3: Start a measured change
Launch an eligible experiment or document a controlled change. For US advertising accounts, review available prompts. Keep stock and other planned changes visible in the log.
Week 4: Review early signals responsibly
Check whether the intended issue is improving. Keep tests running when more evidence is needed. Do not force an experiment winner within 30 days or scale from an immature return sample.
2027 preparation · Our recommended plan
Build a process that
can handle the next change.
You do not need to guess which feature Amazon will launch next year. Make your product facts and decisions easier to check.
Keep one verified product information sheet. Record dimensions, compatibility, materials, included items and limitations. Update all relevant content when the product changes.
Maintain a test and change register. Save the hypothesis, version, dates, result and decision. Reuse what you learn across genuinely similar products.
Review new tools by marketplace. Check the official announcement, eligibility, charges and reporting before adding a feature to your sales plan.
Set monthly decision rules. Agree when to raise spend, pause an offer, investigate returns or replenish stock. Base each rule on your business costs and reliable data.
Questions you may have
Improving Amazon sales:
what to check before you act.
How can I increase sales on Amazon when I already run ads?
Start with the products receiving paid traffic. Check which queries lead to orders, whether the offer is available, what buyers cannot confirm from the product information, and the contribution left after ads and returns. Increase spending only after identifying the actual constraint.
Will adding AI-related keywords improve my Amazon ranking?
There is no guaranteed AI keyword formula. Prepare accurate product information that answers real purchase questions. Verify compatibility, dimensions, use cases and limitations. This is useful for shoppers and clear product communication; it does not guarantee selection by an AI assistant.
Are these Amazon tools available to every seller in India?
No. Availability depends on the marketplace, account, brand roles, product eligibility and rollout. The guide labels US-specific features separately. Check the tools shown in your own Seller Central and advertising account before planning work around them.
How do I increase Amazon sales without increasing the ad budget?
Test the part of the purchase journey that is losing buyers, correct repeated product misunderstandings and stop paying for traffic that does not match the product. Measure the results over a suitable period. These actions can improve how your existing spend is used, but a sales increase is not guaranteed.
Does this guide include confirmed Amazon features for 2027?
No. The platform information was checked on 9 October 2026. The 2027 section is a preparation plan, not a list of announced future releases. New features should be assessed when Amazon confirms their availability and terms.
Can Profit Pepper review my account and take up the work?
Yes. Share your marketplace, product links and main sales issue. We will discuss a suitable review and the services needed. Any ongoing listing, advertising or account work has an agreed scope and fee. Amazon fees and ad spend are separate.
